Who We Are
Nicola Sapsford
Founder
Nicola has many years’ experience in Finance, Leadership, Project Management, Mentoring and Training both in construction and finance in Australia and the UK.
Nicola believes her purpose is to ‘disrupt’ both industries in the way they provide training. After partaking in a the Estimaster software company start up, Nicola saw an opportunity that could truly help young people become better at what they do, in a style in which they learn! She recognised the days of sitting in a classroom or at a computer to learn were no longer engaging without some form of digitisation. This is where The Learning Tool became the problem solver!
Nicola brings her enthusiasm to help, her determination to bring about industry change and a love of helping young people be their very best which is her main driver nowadays.
Outside of work Nicola loves a bit of running outdoors of course not the treadmill type, she is a proud Staffy owner and makes a mean date and walnut loaf!
Steve Sapsford
Co-Founder
Steve is a successful businessman! He is so good that he trains others how to run their businesses really well. His global experience has seen him create several multi million-dollar organisations and he strives to help others improve their organisation’s results. Steve works with executives, business owners and those working on their own to achieve their goals of business success. His introduction to The Learning Tool provided him with a brilliant way to engage with his audiences which provides outstanding results.
Steve has been able to introduce this digitised learning into his consultancy work providing improved learner engagement resulting in increased skills output. With a highly skilled team you can achieve higher results which is what Steve strives for.
Outside of work Steve is golf and soccer mad. A player of golf as often as possible and a past soccer player now avid spectator, including getting out of bed to watch his team play! Plus, family life is a key priority for Steve which involves quality time with his wife and boys and walks with Harley the Cavoodle!
A little side note….
You may note TLT’s Founders have the same surname. Well, that is because they are cousins. For over twenty years Nicola and Steve had talked of working together and then the right opportunity came along in The Learning Tool which they could see how this tool could radically change the face of learning in business.

Project and Business Development Manager
Orlagh is the Project and Business Development Manager at The Learning Tool, where she combines her expertise in project management, business development, and educational technology to drive innovation. With a passion for creating engaging and accessible learning experiences, she plays a key role in shaping the company’s strategy, overseeing projects, and fostering partnerships that support growth.
With a strong background in managing complex initiatives and scaling businesses, Orlagh ensures The Learning Tool delivers high-quality, bite-sized learning solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern learners. She is responsible for website and social media development, first-contact engagement, and contributing to the design of tech-driven learning pilots.
Orlagh is committed to making learning more effective and enjoyable, leveraging her experience to bridge the gap between technology and education.
